KINGS NINGALOO REEF TOURS & SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is at the core of everything Kings Ningaloo Reef Tours do. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the Ningaloo Reef. Unfortunately, this precious ecosystem is at threat from modern practices, including the overuse of plastic and chemicals.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has noted 4 main reasons bleaching occurs. These include climate change, land run-off (sewage, farming chemicals, etc.), certain types of fishing and coastal development.
To ensure the reefs can continue to thrive we must look to create a more sustainable future by following more eco-friendly practices. If we don’t take action now, then we may no longer be able to show our tour guests anything of the beautiful reefs. If we don’t start to make changes soon, Ningaloo Reef could suffer the consequences of our inaction.
So, how can we be more eco-friendly and pave the way to a more sustainable future?
SUSTAINABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY AUSTRALIA
You may be thinking that this problem is mostly out of our control and that any real changes need to be done at a global level, but that is where you are wrong. Real change can and does often begin at the ground level.
Just think, how often do you go out and buy coffee or soft drinks? Do you regularly buy toiletries which are sold in single-use plastic? Are you flying often or driving your vehicle with just you in it? Do you regularly buy fast fashion?
So now you’ve thought about this, how about you start carrying around your own flask or reusable bottle. Find toiletries that are sold in solid form and can be carried around in a tin. Look into alternative methods of transportation. And buy clothes consciously. You’ll find it all begins to add up and will make a big difference. You may even find others around you who are influenced by your own actions.
Let us help you by showing you where to start with your new sustainable lifestyle. There are some businesses out there doing incredible things an
d making it easier for people to live more sustainably.

Ningaloo Sustainable Swimwear
Whilst we can look to avoid buying plastic in the future, there is already an exceptional amount of plastic waste that exists. So it is important to look into ways that we can reuse this plastic so that it doesn’t end up clogging our oceans and land.
The makers of our very own uniforms, Ningaloo Swimwear uses recycled plastic to create their swimwear. So not only can you look good whilst snorkelling around the Ningaloo Reefs, but you can also feel proud knowing that you are wearinga product that has helped to keep existing plastic waste out of our oceans.
You can buy Sustainable Ningaloo Swimwear here or you can even buy their products on one of our tours.
